Monday and Wednesday

About me:

I am Aksana- human, daughter, sister, wife, granddaughter, aunty, cousin, friend, mum to two four legged fur friends, and psychologist.

I have been working in the mental health space since 2012 across a range of settings including outreach, prisons, residential, private practice, community, and health settings.

I am integrative in my approach however have a special interest in exploring the ways we learn to cope, how and why we relate to others the way we do. I tend to lean on family/ systems theories and emotional processing, and believe in the mind-body-spirit connection. I believe in providing those I work with a space to feel safe to explore their stressors. I look forward to meeting with you.

How do you start your day?

Warm lemon water and a walk with my two dogs Kevin and Brian alongside my husband.

Go-to playlist or album?

Garden State Soundtrack.

i thrive in helping people who...

want to develop insight into how it came to be that they do what they do. Individuals who want to spend time doing the work and applying what they learn in session to their lives outside of the counselling space.

What are your strengths as a therapist?

Holding space for silence, establishing rapport, being transparent around what’s in/not in my skill set, compassion, and open mindedness.

What is your general philosophy and approach to helping?

I am always evolving alongside my clients. Clients may come to me for a level of expertise however I am not the (only) expert in the room.
